18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.19 For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God
to be revealed. Romans 8:18-19
What does it take for God's glory to be revealed in our lives? I mean how are we able to truly tell the story of what God is doing in, through and around us so that the world can see HIS GLORY. As the world once again steps into days of uncertainty for the days, weeks, and months ahead in regards to civil unrest and pandemics, we have been called to tell the story of Jesus. During the time when people are really trying to discern what is right from wrong, the question has already been answered in our knowledge of good versus evil. See the problem is the fact that the world has blurred the lines. We no longer live by the GOLDEN RULE and try to make it all up as we go along. We have stopped allowing the measurement of right and wrong to be the Word of God. The world is trying to reconstruct the book and allow anyone to create a new set of rules based on their choice instead of following the foundational teachings that God has already established. That is exactly how satan works. As the lord of all lies, satan is able to manipulate the truth until the lie is easier to accept. See the example of the serpent and Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden in Genesis 3. The serpent was able to edge in just enough confusion that wrong seemed right.
So how do we right the wrongs of the world? How do we find a way to allow the world to see and experience peace and grace when discord and disunity has been woven into our hearts, minds and souls? When we see evil for how it truly exists right in front of our eyes. How are we able to really create change in the time of suffering? Paul says it best in our scripture today. "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed." Reading these words we are given a hope that we cannot fully see. Reading these words we know that the current people of God have to allow God's glory to be revealed in
their stories. We can no longer keep Jesus hidden in a little box. We have to share the gift of God's glory to a world that is suffering in such a way that will draw them all back to God. Many are already taking a knee in protest, but in reality they need to take two knees in humility to allow God to take back over the situation and give us true HOPE for the days that are ahead. I am not debating taking a knee, what I am saying is our posture is evident of our intention. All throughout scripture when we truly are searching for answers and wanting God to step in, we read that people laid prostrate before God and cried out for HIS GLORY to reign and fall down. It is in our intentions and our posture that truly tells the story of the HOPE of GOD's GLORY that will be revealed.
So the power is in us. The ability to truly make change occur is in our ability to recognize the moment where God is calling HIS people to once again rise and proclaim the Lord's name. And that has nothing to do with the color of our skin. We are all one in the sight of God. One of my favorite songs growing up, and I know the words have changed for this current generation, is Jesus loves the little Children. Here are the original lyrics for my time that speak a powerful message of God's Glory being revealed. Jesus loves the little children, ALL the children of the world. Red and Yellow, Black and White, they are precious in HIS sight, Jesus loves the little children of the world. Now before anyone may get frustrated, I am only referencing the song in the power it was meant for God's Glory. Jesus continued to teach and say that the Kingdom of God belongs to the children of the world. Why because they only see God's creation. Their hearts are only sharing God's glory through love and hope. All of God's children are HIS creation, but unfortunately we are given free choice over whether we choose God to be our God. This is why creation is waiting. Creation is waiting for God's people to stand up and finally proclaim that they are sold out for God.
Suffering produces perseverance and through our current suffering we will have to make a decision to step out and give God the Glory. In the Book of James we are reminded that "the testing of our faith develops perseverance, and perseverance must finish its' work so that we can be mature and complete, not lacking anything" James 1:3-4. Until we are able to persevere through the suffering, we will not be mature or ripe. Ready to go and truly tell the world about God. See daily, God's Glory is being revealed through people who have
humbled their hearts, and allowed mountains to move. God's Glory is being revealed through the continued stories of good that triumphs over the mess that we see on social media and TV. God's Glory is beginning to rise out of the ashes because of the people who are willing to take a stand and recognize again that the Church was brought to this time by the foundations that were built from the patriarchs and matriarchs of the past. It is time for the Church of TODAY, led by this generation of leaders, to put all of the lessons we have been taught into action. We are the part of CREATION that Paul was talking about and we can either sit back and once again fall into evil's chains, or we can step out in prayer and action to proclaim the Glory of God the world needs to be revealed. We have to choose.
