GOD PROMISES FRUIT THAT PROSPERS

1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers. Psalm 1:1-3

As we look at the today's promise, it is the promise of fruit. The fruits that we see in the scriptures are from the Holy Spirt ant they are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. For a lot of people when they read the title of today's blog, they are truly thinking that I am going to ramble about the prosperity in God's Word. And for the most part you are right, but not in the world's eyes. I am talking about the promise that has been given to us by God that we will prosper if we hold to His teaching and reap the fruit that has been planted by the Holy Spirit in our lives. There is such a battle between what we define and hold onto as a promise from God and what God is actually preparing for us in advance in abundance. So today, I want all of us to really look at the possibility of beginning to reap the fruits that God has planted that will cause us to prosper for the Kingdom of God.

What if we just started with a single fruit. What if it is not with everything that we have already mentioned. What if today we rally took a moment and allowed God's promise of JOY or LOVE to enter into our schedule. What would that actually look like for us today? If we were able to put on these glasses that was able to filter out everything else around us but joy or opportunities to give joy. How would our lives be different. As God has called us to

follow His path, we are given opportunities to find joy amongst the chaos. For me today, there is joy in the laughter of my youngest daughter who I had the honored to drive to school today. We had conversations and listened to her music and watch funny videos that allowed us to bond. Maybe another example of joy was hearing the paws of our dog running down the hallway to jump into the bed and just snuggle and lick my face to make sure that I knew that he was there. Maybe it was in the beautiful sunrise this morning. I am not saying that Joy is just one thing, but that God is producing the fruit of joy all around us and we are able to do the same for others. It may be in a simple smile, saying good morning, or just acknowledging the fact that the person exists. It may mean just stepping out of our comfort zones and having a conversation with someone who really looks as if they are in need of connection. And that is just thinking about the fruit of JOY today.... just imagine if we took each of these fruits and applied daily to our lives. How much more would the Gospel be multiplied in the world.

God's promises produce fruits that are meant to give and receive. They are meant to be multiplied to the whole world. We see that in our scripture verses for today. We are called not to walk in the ways of the wicked, but to delight in the Words of the Lord. We are to take hold of the seeds of God's promises that are planted with every word we read from the Bible. God is always there to lead and to guide us, but we have to be willing to allow the seeds the are planted in us to be nurtured, pruned and harvested. We also have to look to the other side and find ways to plant seeds into the lives of others as well. Harvesting and planting God's promises is an every day calling. If we are grounded by then promise of God, we are like the tree that the Psalmist is writing about today. We will yield the fruit from God and we will not wither. We will continue to prosper for the glory of God. We will continue to take hold of more spiritual fruits the more we mature in our faith and let go of our control. When we humble ourselves and step into planting God's promises in the lives others, the single tree will soon become an orchard. Remember it is not about just us but about the opportunity that we have to equip and make disciples who equip and make disciples. Just like trees and vines that produce fruit, we are not only doing it for one season and that's it. We continue to do it until the day that God takes us home.

I continue to ask all of us to really pray to be a part of helping others to experience God's promises for the world. I pray that we can continue to prosper to developing fruit that grows God's kingdom all throughout the world. It all starts with one seed that is willing to die to

themselves and live in Christ. Once the seed dies, it is able to take root and produce a crop that might be 10, 100, or 1000 times greater than the one. If God is in our plans, we will definitely watch those plans continue to grow and prosper. It may not look like what we imagined-money, fortune, and prestige- but it may allow us to truly be humbled and see the greater plan that God has in store through our lives. Take hold of one promise today and live out to the fullest. Take hold of one fruit that we are promised through the Holy Spirit and watch and see how the world can be changed. We are only here for such a short time, and I hope and pray that we realize the impact that we can all make if we stand on the promises that God has placed before us. I close with another scripture to help us see it even more vividly today. "4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me." John 15:4. May we be fruitful and prosper as we were commanded in Genesis, but may it be fruits of the Spirit that we share with the world.
