16 As for me, I call to God, and the Lord saves me.17 Evening, morning and noon

I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.

18 He rescues me unharmed from the battle waged against me, even though many oppose me. 19 God, who is enthroned from of old, who does not change he will hear them and humble them, because they have no fear of God. Psalm 55:16-19

What an amazing weekend. If you would have been able to watch the last 72 hours of my life, you would have thought that you were in the middle of a crazy movie. You would watch as the ebb and flow of the story plot would continue to put you on the edge of your seat and you would be yelling at me and telling me not to worry and that God is going to show up...just see it through. Now, that I have been able to walk through the days, I can look back and realize that God was there in His perfect time. God was not only stretching parents and students, but God was stretching ME to remember that the God of all creation, the God of ALL things was standing beside us, ready to allow the world to once again experience HIS perfect plan through HIS perfect timing.

I remember the late 90's early 00's song God is in Control. I remember listening to those words and really saying to myself, "If we would really believe the words that we were singing, then this could be a time where God is going to be able to reach the world. This is the time!! And I would watch as that time would come and go. Then there would be something else

that would happen in the world, our community, or just in our personal life and I remember saying, God has chosen this time to truly reveal Himself to the world. THIS IS IT!! And the world would fall back into the same patterns and seem as though nothing changed. I would shake my head and ask... when is God's timing going to meet our timing? When are we really going to be so open to God's plan and see it in the time frame God is ready to reveal it? So many times we feel like Peter, who stepped out of the boat in faith and we are right in the midst of the storm and we begin to think that we are all alone. But that is not the truth at all. We should never feel as though God has lead us to this place and leave us all alone. No... God. in His perfect timing, has been walking beside us every step of the way and is ready to reach out His hand in the moment that we feel alone and sinking in our doubts and fears.

Looking at the Psalmist words today, we are once again given assurance that God is outside the lines of our time frame. God is able to see the entire time frame and step in to any moment with a second to spare. The Psalmist lets us know that God is intently able to hear our cries... that our God is able to hear the cry of the lost sheep, the despair of the broken heart, the anger of the confused, the frustration of the uncertain, and be right by their side every step of the way. He is there to strengthen us for the battle and encourage us in the storm. That is the perfect timing of God. Because HE is perfect, we must continue to realize that His timing reflects the nature of who God is. Even though that might be hard for our human minds to understand, God steps into the moment at the exact time that God has chosen to intervene and that time is perfect. It does not mean that we will not suffer or that the times will not be tough, but it does assure us, as with Peter, the righteous right hand of God is strong and powerful and ready to pull us out of the ocean of despair at a moments notice. We just have to look for the signs that God is showing us through the journey which for many of us we cannot see until we look in the rearview mirror.

So I say all of this to tell you that I was in that moment this past weekend. I have lived my whole life building my trust in God. I have watched God literally move mountains in my personal life and bring things that were dead back to life. I have watched God use ministry moments to transform lives and realized that God is in every moment. I just don't understand why I doubt the God who is both the LION ready for battle and the LAMB who was ready to sacrifice it all. I don't know why I doubt that the God that has been walking this timeline throughout all of history, would ever leave me in my deepest time of need. How many more

times does God have to step in and come to the "rescue" for me to finally realize that God is in control and HIS timing is impeccable? I know that there will be those moments in all of our lives. Even when God has proved Himself time and time again. I just have to live in that faith and remind myself and you today that GOD HAS GOT THIS! I should never be surprised by God's timing. I should never be prideful to believe that I can determine the time He will show up, but that in humility I can go through ALL situations in my life and ministry and realize that God is already there...walking beside us... and listening out for our cries if we are ever in need. 24/7 God is there... there is no off time.. no break... no vacay. God is outside of our time and that is what makes HIS timing perfect, because He sees the full picture and knows what is needed to sustain, strengthen, and assure us that we will never be alone. We are just an arms length away as God is waiting to take our hand in HIS grip and never let go. We just have to be willing to reach out and take His hand.
