NO GREATER LOVE THAN THAT OF A CHILD

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears,[a] we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.1 John 3:1-2

I love looking through the years and seeing the memories of students as they were children who have grown up to now be parents of their own. I know that just allows me to realize that I am not a young man anymore, but I am amazed at the honor and the privilege that I have had to have a fingerprint on the lives of so many. It is amazing to see as people's eyes are opened and lives are changed because of the power of God. It is not me or anything else. It all comes down to the Glory of God and His willingness to work through a sinner like me to change the world. There is no greater love than the love of a child. With the wet kisses and the giggles. Life just seems to be so much better when you are able to see a child just live life as God intended it to be for us all. Children see truth and honesty. They live their life filled with the love of God and their eyes don't really see anything more than each person is a person. They don't really follow the patterns of the world until they begin to get older and suffer from a change of vision because of the evil that exists in the world. I honestly wish that we would all have the chance to go back to that ideal lifestyle and just love people and play. Just imagine what the world would look like if we were all just an older version of the loving child we were so many years ago.

Being a child of God is something that sounds so amazing. I cannot even imagine how God is able to truly watch all of His children at once. We carry the name of the Father and with that name comes a lot of responsibility. Those who have never be enlightened by God's love

will look to us as examples on how to live out our faith. The world can no longer see a difference between those who are a part of the Church and those who are a part of the world. That statement is what really hurts my heart. I know that we have talked before of being of the world but not in the world. Yes, we were born of this world and I know that the Church has really spent a lot of time ministering to the people in the world. My only struggle is that it seems that the world has had a greater impact on the Church than the Church has made on the world over the last 50 years. We are watching as the Church is beginning to bend on foundational teachings and allow a more worldly perspective to be a part of their decisions on how the Church is run. There still has to be a distinction, and I don't mean one that segregates, but one that holds firm to the truths that God created. Yes, the world is in desperate need of seeing the reality of God's truth again and not be satisfied that when they look at the Church they see a refection of the world.

As we look into John's letter today, we see that the Church was facing the same situation back when John wrote the letter to believers. The world crept back into the Church and confused the mindsets of the people in such as way that everything went from black and white to a shade of gray. If you look at the writing today, please take a few moment to read the words and then notice the punctuation. It is not periods that John uses but exclamation points. John is trying to help us see the importance of stepping out and allowing the world to see the people who call themselves children of God. There is a need for the world to know God! John is very intentional in saying that we have been lavished with the love of God and that we are CHILDREN OF GOD! We are called out to take a stand and profess our heritage. I know that may seem crazy, but it is a reality that we need to digest. We are the disciples of today, and regardless of your age, we have been called to live a life that exemplifies God. John finishes today's part by helping us realize that God will recognize us on the day that Christ returns, because we will look like Christ and God recognizes His own. We all have an identity in Christ, but we need to help others to come back into the fold.

So I just want to encourage all of us today to be like a child. See the world as a big play area that allows us to love the people that God has created. I know that we cannot reach every one, but that does not mean that we cannot reach at least one. We have been called to be obedient to God and the first step is to once again remember our creation as a child of God.

Love was so much easier when we were children, and the innocence of a child is something that is vital to helping others to see God as our Father and Creator. So many people have been hurt and are scarred by the world. We just need to help them rekindle their joy and a show them that they are not alone. The world is filled with those that are desperate for connection and why can that not start today. I know that I say things over and over again because I want to emphasize the importance. The world needs the children of God to step out and speak. The world needs to see that there is a better way to live and a better way to walk together. We are an example for Christ, and I just want to try and stop the world from imploding. May we realize the anointing that was placed over us and let the TRUTH of our Father be revealed through us.
