"So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty,

but will accomplish what I desire

and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:11

Many times I have been asked the question of how do I look at a glass... Is it half empty or half full? Being the eternal optimist and always wanting to take hold of a challenge, I see the potential of filling the glass and allowing it to run over. That is how I see everything in the perspective of God in my life. That there is always potential for change... potential for a new way of thinking or the potential to see how God can be glorified in the situation. I am not saying that I am ALWAYS 100 percent OPEN to the change, I am afraid that the older I get, the more I begin to slow down the gung-ho attitude, but I still believe that if God has a plan for it, I pray that if God needs me, He will provide a way for me to be used to fulfill His purpose. NOTHING can stop our GOD! Sorry, I am getting a little excited and am starting to preach. But this reality is true. Not that we cannot question or discern the next steps. Not that we cannot pause and make a well thought out decision, that is not where I am going. What I am saying is, whenever the decision to follow God is made... do we hesitate and doubt or do we move forward with the assurance that God is in control?

I know that may sound like an easy decision that we can make, but sometimes it is the actions that we live out that truly show our decisions. Vocally we can say all that we want that we follow Jesus, but if we are unable to live it out in our lives, then it is just lip service. I hate to say that because a long time in my life that is where I was in my faith. I knew all the answers and I played a great role, but when it came to truly stepping out on faith, I just couldn't seem to take the step. So many times we seem like people that are completely filled with the Spirit of God but we are, "whitewashed tombs". We seem to have it all

together on the outside, but on the inside we are still trying to understand if God really has full control. I hope and pray that we will all understand the fullness of God. That once we have made this decision, God will continue to fill us with the things we need to grow in our relationship with God. The thirst that we have for more knowledge and understand, will begin to be quenched through the power of the WORD of God. Our hearts will grow fuller and there will be a transformation from the inside out. God will begin filling us to overflowing as we allow the living fountain to flow out of us and into the world.

See we come to the point of Isaiah's message for today. Isaiah has been expressing the power of the living water that can help those who are truly searching find the power of God. It is with a humble heart that we continue to search and that God is able to enter into the temple of our lives and begin restoring it for HIS Glory. In each part of the Scripture, Isaiah uses the image of allowing the power of God to fill us to fullness. As we come with a willing heart, God will continue to feed our souls and open our minds to growth in a way that we have never experienced before. In verse 11 we see one of my favorite teachings, "so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." God is speaking that the WORD of God that has been sent out CANNOT return empty. It has been sent out for a particular purpose to reach the world. And in digging into that verse, we really are amazed at the power of the WORD. We are reassured that GOD's WORD has a purpose and has been sent out to the world to obtain that purpose. It is on mission to reach the world and has the ability to use ANYONE that it touches as a means to fulfill GOD's purpose. So how can we look at the glass as half empty? If God has a plan and a purpose for the world, we have an obligation to step into that opportunity to help pass on the WORD.

On the other side, I also know that there are a lot of people in this world that are lost. They are searching every door to find answers. They are reaching out to different options in hopes of something giving them meaning in this life. Depression and doubt continues to enter into their lives and the feel as though they are walking down an empty corridor with no ending in sight. These are the ones that we need to continue to carry the Gospel to in this time. These are some of the least of these that are in need of the POWER of the WORD of GOD that will NOT return EMPTY. Watching God's Word infiltrate the darkness of a person's life is inexplainable. Their demeanor changes. Their outlook on life changes. Their decision making process changes. When the WORD is received to the fullest, their eyes are opened

to see the world in a new way. They view their importance in the world from a fresh perspective and they are able to use their testimony to help pass the message of GRACE to others that may be in need. So the next time you are asked that question if the glass is half empty or half full, respond by saying that our glass is ready in expectation for what is to come. We are leaving space for God to reveal HIS plan and to allow GOD space to work in our live to the fullest it could be every day. And then we will be ready to overflow it all out into the world. Let's continue to allow the POWER of GOD's WORD to be alive in us and to all of the world.
