1 Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children2 and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5:1-2

I remember growing up emulating different people I wanted to be as an adult. I know that at one time I wanted to be superman. I wanted to be able to fly and leap tall buildings in a single bound. I know that another time of my life I wanted to be a Dallas Cowboy. Hey, don't shoot me.. I loved America's team and I watched them in the good and the bad days. As I got older, I remember wanting to be an attorney because I use to watch Perry Mason who NEVER lost a case. In different stages of my life I carried a desire to be anyone else than the person God created in the mirror. It was easier to put my life into the shoes of someone else and think that everything was going to be different if I could reach the popularity in my life like those I respected and looked up to in my youth. But the older I got, the more I started to realize that I didn't want to look like the people of this world... but I wanted to be like the one who created this world.

Now, before you start thinking that I wanted to be a god... no that is not what I am saying at all. What I am saying is my perspective on success and life changed as I continued to watch real people make a huge impact on the lives of other people. I know that there are people

that took the time to invest into my life and never thought about wanting anything in return. People who were willing to give countless hours of their life to help me to grow stronger as a person and even deeper in my faith. Each of them left a huge mark in my life and if you really take the time to look, you would be able to see their imprint on my life. It may be the way that I look at the world or how I take a step back and breathe before I rush into a situation. Maybe it is how I take in every moment of students lives because I know that I will never get that time back. Or maybe...just maybe... it is the people who have gone before us and caused us to take hold of their legacy because of the love that I received along the way.

As we look at the words of Paul to the people of Ephesus today, we are called to live out the example of God's love in this world. We are called to help others recognize the power of being a reflection of Christ, by showing them the example that surrounds them each day. When Paul is saying to follow God's example, that is not just a flippant statement. It is a reminder to live outside the boundaries of our personal concepts of good and evil. It means that we are to show grace to all no matter the circumstance. It means that we are reflect and be imitators of Christ. Christ came to us and shared with us the ultimate gift of God's love and I truly hope and pray that when people look at our actions they see God's love. I pray that we have a forgiveness that is willing to act with expectation of something in return. I pray that our main goal is to help others find this amazing grace that was lavished and poured out on us all. The world needs to see Christ and they still may never go to a church to find it. They may only see Christ through us and that means we have to be willing to stand firm and teach the Truth through our actions. We have received a love that was never meant to be held onto, but a love that is meant to be shared to every person that we meet. The ones that walk with us and the ones that hurt us. The ones who fully understand the sacrifices that are made and others that feel as though we are obligated to show them care. We are called to show the world the love we received as we step into the unknown each day.

So please make note that we are called to be a fragrant offering to God each day. We are to wake up and not grumble if asked to be stretched beyond our norms. We are called to see things outside the box in order that others may ultimately see the love of God in so many different options. There is only ONE God and I hope and pray that we are capable of letting

go of ourselves and directing others to see the powerful display of God's love for His creation. There has to be a change in the world and I don't think that we can afford to allow it to continue to go down the same road anymore. We are watching things continue to fall apart and God is in need for us to press on with carrying the Gospel to every corner. We cannot do that all by ourselves, but by watching as the same TRUTH is revealed in the lives of EVERY follower. We are called to all come together in such a way that will allow the world to hear the Gospel in every tongue as we all confess together that Jesus Christ is Lord. It takes someone who knows the Gospel to help others to find the Gospel. It takes someone who is able to discern truth in order that THE TRUTH can be revealed. I know it seems simple and it is. The problem is taking hold of the simplicity of the MESSAGE and applying it fully to our lives. The Holy Spirit allows believers of the faith to know each other in an intimate way. God just wants us who know, to share that love with others so that they may be freed from the chains that continue to hold them.
