If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:2

What an AMAZING time to step into the word LOVE. As I am continuing to think through the last 42 days that we have been in quarantine, it is hard to believe that sometimes we really do miss the LOVE moments that are in our lives. I know that looking back on my life, I would give ANYTHING to have one more day to spend with my dad or grandparents. I remember growing up, all I really wanted to do was to get out of the house and go my own way. But that was the mindset of a fool that really didn't realize what I had around me. Even today there are moments where I just need to sit back and realize the gift that has been given to me, even in the moments where tensions rise and anger, not love comes raging into the room. LOVE... four letters that is more powerful than anything we can ever imagine.

Do you remember the first time you said the phrase I LOVE YOU and meant it? I mean not to a parent or family member, but do you remember when you were so filled with the emotions and your heart seemed to be beating out of your chest and you couldn't stop your hands from sweating and you had no clue what this euphoric moment was? It may take some time to really step back and remember the first moment, but it does not mean that it has diminished for you today. Huwey Lewis and the News sang a song, which was the hit track

for Back to the Future, called the POWER OF LOVE. Some of the lines were, "You don't need money, don't take fame, don't need no credit card to ride this train. It's strong and it's sudden, and it's cruel sometimes, but it might just save your life.. That's the POWER OF LOVE." Now some of you may have started singing this song when you read the words, but what I need us to understand that there TRULY IS POWER in LOVE. As we mentioned a few days ago, we are in a constant battle with our minds that eventually will lead to our hearts. Our hearts are the emotional center of our bodies. When Jesus teaches that we are to LOVE the Lord your God with ALL your HEART... ALL your Mind.. ALL your soul and ALL your strength, Jesus is referring to the POWER that LOVE has over the direction of our actions. If we are truly in LOVE, we will give everything that we have and fight to the death to protect it.

Look closely at the Scripture for today. Roughly, if I have the mindset to be able to predict the future or answer the unanswerable questions, if I had the faith to fully believe God is going to do ALL that God is going to do, yet I don't have LOVE... I AM NOTHING. Paul is really speaking to the people of Corinth and recognizing their positional authority in the world and the impact that Jesus had made. He was continuing to share with them that THE POWER OF GOD's LOVE came in the form of Jesus. Not in a god that we have made up and thanked because something went our way. But in a GOD who was willing to give the ultimate sacrifice in order that we could truly see the POWER OF LOVE. I mean think about it.. Jesus' final words were Father forgive them for they know not what they are doing. He was asking for the CREATOR of all things not to destroy but to show mercy... to show grace... to show LOVE. How much did God love us? So much that Jesus spread his arms on the cross and showed the world the POWER of LOVE. You cannot buy it... You cannot earn it... You cannot think that just because I am who I am I deserve love. NO, just like when I asked you to think about the first time you truly experienced love and said those words and meant it, these were the exact same feelings I had when the Holy Spirit came into my life and I accepted Jesus as my LORD and SAVIOR. At that moment, the POWER of the LOVE of God rushed into my life and transformed it forever. I have NEVER been the same.. THANK GOD.

So today what about you? As we look into the next steps of this journey that we are on, are you willing to see LOVE from a new perspective? To take your eyes off the world's definition of love and experience it through the eyes of Jesus. To see love in action and humility and not because we want or need something in return. The POWER of LOVE is FREE and it is waiting for everyone to experience it. See it was not us that had to take the step towards God first, but remember what Scripture says, "This is how we know what LOVE is, Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. Let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth." I John 3:16,18. It is all laid out in black and white. It is not something that is hard to understand. The POWER of LOVE came into the world not to condemn it but to save it. John 3:17. So today take a moment to live into those 4 letters...LOVE. Really look inside and think about the true love and sacrifice that has been paid for us all. And then, just maybe, we can be ready to take the next steps.
