THE FAITH OF GOD
11 Here is a trustworthy saying:
If we died with him, we will also live with him; 12 if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us; 13 if we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself.
2 Timothy 2:11-13
Here is the picture that continues to run through my mind when I think about the Faith of God. Many people ask me, what do you mean about the faith of God. God doesn't need faith. God is the object of our faith. And to that I say yes and no. God is the object of our faith but we also must recognize the fact that God has faith in His creation. God continues to believe in us. What we fail to realize is that God has faith in us in such a way that he was willing to give the best gift we could ever receive in the form of Jesus. I know that seems a little crazy thinking that way, but remember that God did give us the freedom of choice. Remember that God has given us the chance to choose Him and to follow Him in eternity. So with every day that passes, God shows His faith in His creation because He is still waiting to open the final seals and say that It is finished.
God has faith in everything that he created and continues to hold the door of salvation open. If there was any way for me to actually think from God's perspective, I cannot even fathom the patience and the frustration, which are human qualities I am placing on the character of God, that God must go through on a daily basis when He sees what we have done to this world. All of the sin and the chaos that continues to infiltrate the lives of His
creation and God still show Faith. God still provides grace and love and mercy in full belief that we will come around. I know that with each day the clock is ticking. I know that the time for God's return draws nearer each and every second, but I am still amazed at God's Faith to believe in us when we choose to turn from Him almost every day. What an amazing quality and picture of FAITH. What an amazing picture of love and patience as we continue to watch the world spin out of control. God is still ready and waiting to give us the benefit of the doubt and share His Eternal Kingdom with us.
See as we continue down the road of Paul's teaching with Timothy, we noticed the power of God's Faith in humanity. Look at the words again. Here is a trustworthy saying:
If we died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself. The first two parts of the scripture are pretty self-explanatory. If we died with Him... If we have chosen to live our lives and give our lives for God, we will also live with God in this life and in eternity. If we disown God and do not profess Him as the Lord and Savior of our lives we fall into the fact that on the day when we cry out to the Lord, He will say depart from me you evildoer. If we are unwilling to profess God and ask Him to be a part of our lives, then we will find a sad eternity that will await us. But the last phrase is the one I want to really focus on. If we are faithless... HE remains faithful for he cannot disown himself. See this part of the scripture boldly states the power of the Faith of God. That even though we may not know Him and we may know fully understand the Gospel, God will continue to be faithful to us. Why? Because there is a piece of God in each and every one of us since our own creation. God is Faithful and provide prevenient grace that surrounds our lives through the work of the Holy Spirit. God continues to show faith through His love for us through Christ and the gift of live each and every day.
Many believe that the power of the cross is fading in today's world. So many continue to walk away from the church and are frustrated with what the church represents today. Many don't see the love and grace. Many struggle to really understand the point of the church at all. But even in the midst of this chaos, God still has Faith in people and in the church. God is continuing to work through the media of today and allow the Gospel to be heard all around the world. God has Faith in His creation because He gave His Son as a payment for the death that we all deserve. I know that in the Book of Hebrews we define Faith as being sure of what we HOPE for and certain of what we cannot see. What I am telling you is that the
God of all Creation still has FAITH in His creation that needs to be recognized. We have been blessed with so much in this life, and I am not talking about position, authority, wealth, etc..., but I am talking about we have been blessed by FAITH from the GOD of ALL CREATION that still provides us His grace every day. The Power of the Cross cannot fade, because the power of God's Faith in us will not fade. It does not mean that everyone will be saved. It does mean that many will find out a harsh reality of eternity and realize that God never meant for His creation to be destroyed. We just all need to take time today and once again realize which side of the fence we are standing on. Are we ready to endure the tough times for the Gospel to be spread to everyone or are we just going to sit back and allow our faith to be like the waves of the ocean and go back and forth. God is counting on us, and I am counting on the Faith of God in us to move mountains.
