16 When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, Lord God Almighty. Jeremiah 15:16

As we continue to think through first actions in our days, one of the first things that many of us do is eat breakfast. Just recognize that the word breakfast was created as the time where we "break" our "fast" from being asleep. So when anyone ever asks why breakfast is the most important meal of the day, it is because we are breaking our fast from when we slept and had our last meal. So thinking through that process, we have to truly realize not just the food that nurtures our physical bodies, but the spiritual food that feeds our souls. We have always understood that the Word of God is our daily bread or our daily spiritual nourishment. We see that two-fold in the Lord's Prayer where we hear the phrase, "Give us this day our daily bread". We are spending time asking God to not only feed us physically but to offer to us, through His Word, something that will continue to feed our souls in preparation to give an answer to anyone when asked. It is just as important to begin each day not just by breaking our fast physically but also to break our spiritual fast with God Word as well.

I really do love the fact that we are walking together during this time of Lent. I know that many of you that read this blog are members of our student ministry or someone that is connected to me personally. I know that God is using this daily blog to connect people all over the country and others from different parts of the world. I am amazed that we can all

spend a few moments digesting together the same part of the Word of God and allow God to focus our hearts and minds together. That is something that really makes my heart warm. It helps to allow us all to realize that distance does not stop the power of the Word of God. As we continue to rearrange our mentality of truly focusing on the Word of God as the first and last options for our days, it means that we are also taking the time to spiritually focus our minds on God. Even as ministers, I can be honest and say that some times we struggle to truly focus on God and not our schedules. We know that we have meetings and activities that begin and end our days and we can become mentally exhausted and we also fail to allow God to be our first and last thoughts. So we ALL have to be intentional to say that we all want to be on the same page in order that God can reveal to us all the next steps.

As we step into our scripture for today, I am asking that we realize that Jeremiah is challenging us to recognize two major things. First, we are to digest the Word of God each day as our regular daily routine. Jeremiah says that he ate the Word of God and that it immediately impacted his heart in such a way that reading the Word became joy and delight. I believe that when we dig into the Word of God that we will begin to receive joy and have a desire to consume more and more. Similar to our favorite food that may bring back nostalgia from our past, we will eat ourselves to being uncomfortable because of the joy we find. Jeremiah is saying that is the same passion we should show towards the Word of God. Secondly, as we grow in our faith, we eventually take on the name of God. We are known as God Bearers or Theotokos. Being called a God Bearer means that we carry the name and the teachings of God in every area of our lives. As we wake up in the morning, we continue to add to our ability to carry more and more of God's message to the world. It is not something that we should take lightly. Being a God Bearer is HUGE and requires us to continue to train and prepare for whatever may come in our lives. We bear the name of Christ and reflect the Word of God in every action. What an amazing daily challenge we are called to step into during this time of Lent.

So I hope and pray that as each day passes, we continue to yearn to dig deeper and deeper into the Word of God. I pray that as we step into the Word more, our hearts will find more joy and will call us to consume even more. I pray that we are humbled to realize the importance of taking the name Theotokos and sharing God's story to the world. I pray that we continue to pray for God to give us strength and a desire to replace the scars and the junk from the world with the joy and delight of God. May we take our daily bread as a way to

end the time in which God has been speaking to us at night. I pray that we take a moment each day and celebrate that we still have so many options to read the God's Word and don't take it for granted. We are God Bearers that need to refine our lives and restore our hearts by consuming scripture to light our paths each and every day. I promise that if we all encourage each other, we will find that our desire to read God's Word daily will become a part of our lives just like breathing. It will continue to give us life and it will be so important that we won't have to debate or think about it, but digging into God's Word will be a natural part of our daily schedule. May you find joy and delight in our Scripture for today and may it spur us all on to walk and share the Good News to the world. Father, Here I am. What can I do for You today? Amen.
