5 The wise prevail through great power,

and those who have knowledge muster their strength.

6 Surely you need guidance to wage war,

and victory is won through many advisers.

Proverbs 24:5-6

O say can you see by the dawn's early light. What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming. Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight. O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air. Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave. O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave. I thought it might be fitting to remind us of the words of Francis Scott Key after the Battle for Fort McHenry during the battle of 1812. Even though the flag was tattered and torn, it continued to stand in victory over the British armada as a symbol of the tenacity and freedom so many have fought for over the years. I know that during this journey we have had many days in our lives that have tried us and tested our hearts, but the one thing I hope we never forget is that regardless of what happens each day, we stand in victory because of the sacrifice that was made for our lives. There is nothing that this world can do and nothing that can happen that can separate us from the love of God or negate the fact that through wisdom and knowledge I will forever be victorious and free.

There are wars that we face every day and I know that over the last few months it has seemed as though the battle has been brought to each of our doorsteps. A battle that has been brewing for a long time and it is now time that we are to stand up and let God's light rise above the darkness. With every day that has drawn us to this point, we have watched the foundational principles that founded and formed this country be tested and tried. Never forget that the early settlers came to this country to pursue religious freedom and to get away from a Monarchy of British rule. We have been able to watch throughout our history that freedom is the gift we have received from the battles that have been fought, but we have really missed out on learning from the mistakes of our past in order that we could gain

wisdom. Remember that the definition of insanity is doing things over and over again in the same way and expecting a different response. We have to be willing to realize that we have been given this freedom for a reason and that reason is to help others in their time of struggle and need. When Solomon wrote these words, he never had any idea that the United States would ever exist, but he was laying out a format that would help us to move forward in God's plan. We have power and we have the ability to take on anyone in the world, but as I learned from Uncle Ben in Spider Man, "With great power comes great responsibility." And those words are warning us and encouraging us to understand that God has given us this time to step into this world of chaos and help others see the freedom we experience through the blood of Jesus Christ.

Solomon teaches us today that we are to use the knowledge that we have to try and win battles not through brute strength but through wisdom. Many times Solomon faced adversaries that were ready to go to war, but it was not his military strength that helped him overcome the situation but his wisdom to know when and when not to go to battle. There are definitely times in this life that we have to stand up and battle for what we believe in and not sit back and be overrun by the dictators of this world. Other times, we need to be able to use our wisdom through knowledge and understanding to defuse a situation before it goes beyond a point of no return. It means that we have to battle through the cracks and surround ourselves with people who have a mindset to see the world as an opportunity for the Kingdom of God and not as a stepping stone to get to the next place on my ladder of success. I think that we have gotten into this position because we have failed to truly take hold of the opportunities that have surrounded us and we have been coasting on the coattails of those who have gone before. We have relied on their victory to set into place the comfort that we had been living in for so long. I am telling you that we have to get back into the fight. Evil is popping up all around us and we are turning a deaf ear and a blind eye because we don't really remember what we need to do to fight anymore. It means that we get on our knees and earnestly pray... it means that we step into the battles and reveal truth instead of sitting back and letting lies run rampant.... it means that we finally reveal to the world that we are Christians that are following God's lead and we are no longer going to allow evil to destroy that which God has built.

It is going to be messy because we have allowed it to get to out of control, but the good thing is that God is still by our side. As we step into Solomon's words, I hope that we are all able to see that God has built this country strong and even if its' foundations may seem as if they are cracking, we still have time to refortify the ground through the Word of God. We must no longer surround ourselves with Yes men, but have people that are able to honestly see and speak about what is really going on. We can no longer be satisfied that as long as it has not affected our lives we are ok... because once it gets to the point in which it is at our doorsteps than it will be to late. Just like Solomon we have to look at the battle and realize

that we have to take action and step into the moments to help defuse the war that may erupt. We may be beaten.. tattered and torn, but just like the song says, we have to give proof through the darkness of this night that our banner our flag for God is still waving strong. It is only when we give up and stop caring will we truly lose the battle at hand. Today is a tough day for our country and one that may continue to cause distrust and strife, but tomorrow the sun will rise and we will face the next day with the wisdom and knowledge of the new battles that we may face. We must trust in God and recognize our true calling to go into this world and claim victory in the name of Jesus. Jesus overcame the government, Jesus overcame people.... Jesus overcame the world... and he did it so that we may have victory in HIM... TODAY I CLAIM VICTORY IN THE NAME OF JESUS... WHO IS WITH ME?
