7 But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. Philippians 3:7-11

One of the greatest things in my life is the opportunity to see a piece of God's plan come to fruition. As I continued to grow up, I was a amazed at the thought of this phrase that continued to show up in my life. You may be the ONLY example of Christ that someone may ever see. That really resonated with me as a youth, but it really did not mean so much to me until I was a missionary to Germany. When I was walking through the city of Weimar, Germany, I was blown away to see a city of people that were just going through their daily life right after the Berlin Wall had fallen. They were still focused on life that had repressed them and had no idea how to get out of the every day routine. It was sad. They had created for themselves their own walls that was hindering their growth. Even though they were free, they were still trapped in a mentally to slavery beacoeua they had no idea of what true freedom meant. They were given a new lease on life and they just did not now how to gain this freedom.

The same could be said about our lives as well. We have been trapped in this same routine and many times we are able to truly gain the full blessing of what God has in store for us. We create the same walls and boundaries because that is exactly how we are use to living. We have to be able to realize that God has more for us to gain if we are willing to take hold of the freedom that God is willing to give to us. To be the example of Christ to a world that is living enslaved with sin is something that is difficult to comprehend until we start living that life. Our mindset is completely transformed and our eyesight is able to see the opportunities that are around us every day. I know that may seem difficult for many of us to believe, but I

want you to think about that concept. If you were the only example of Christ, would others be able to gain life? Would others be able to experience freedom and see the calling that Jesus has for their lives? Would others have the ability to have a life changing experience and stop living inside the walls that they have built. What do we have to gain for Christ, more people for the Kingdom of God. It is that simple. We were created to live this life in such a way that we gain the lives of others for Jesus. If we are not approaching each day with this mentality than we continue to share a trapped and not transformed mentality for those we meet.

Paul challenges not only the people of Philippi but the Christians of this world through our scriptures today. As you read through the entirety of Philippians 3, we are challenged to live our life for Christ and if we die, we gain eternity. Our goal is to live every day to help lead others to Jesus. We take every breath to glorify God and we hope and pray that at the end of the day we have fulfilled God's calling. As we live as Christ, we gain the peace, joy and love.... we experience the grace and mercy and we gain another day that will lead us one step closer to eternity with God. We have not been created for personal gain but to be used as an instrument to share the Gospel to others. Our whole purpose is to not gain but to help gain others for the Kingdom. The closer that Paul grew in his relationship with God, the more he realized that if he lost it all, he would gain more than he could ever imagine. If we look at life to try and figure out what we will gain, then we have completely lost the true focus of why we were created.

The challenge for today is to live a life that is able reproach by being a living example for Christ. Seems so simple not really. But we must be willing to let go of who we are and how the world defines us and take hold of the freedom that God is providing for us. If not, we will be just like the families in Germany, we will continue to live our lives lost in the struggle. We will think that we are ok but in reality we will lose even more opportunities to share this freedom to others. Are you ready? Are you ready to give it all up in order that God

is able to gain. Are you willing to take a side step and let God take the min stage? I just pray that God will fill us to overflowing and allow us to see every chance that we have to make a difference in this world. Are you ready to make a difference? Are you ready to see how the world that surrounds you will change if you step out on faith and give your life fully to the professing of the Gospel. What an amazing opportunity to see life in a new way and once your eyes are opened to God's plan, you will see how much you truly gain by just being a part of God's plan.
