Lift up your heads, you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty,

the Lord mighty in battle. 9 Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.

10 Who is he, this King of glory The Lord Almighty—he is the King of glory.

Psalm 24:7-10

Have you ever gone back over a scripture and god truly speak to you in a different way to blow open your mind? This week we are starting a sermon series called Journey through the Psalms and we started this week with Psalm 24 which I used the earlier part of the scripture in an earlier blog. I stopped and reread and began to study more in-depth the concept of this Psalm and how it relates to us and our situation today. And needless to say that my mind was blown. You see, I remember this scripture first from a song back in the 90's sung by Third Day called King of Glory. I remember listened to the words and I wanted to desperately find the words in scripture that correlated to the song. It helps me to see the fullness of the song if I am able to fully see the context of the foundational words that are being used. So fast forward almost 30 years and here we are again, reading and rediscovering the power of GOD in an entirely different way than the first time that I discovered this scripture. I just LOVE the ability of the Holy Spirit to help us walk through God's word in such a mighty way.

I say this to resonate the fact that the Psalms were written over a time span of over 800 years starting in 1407b.c. with the Psalm of Moses and ending 856 b.c with the Psalms of desolations. Within these songs, prayers and poems, we are able to experience themes of God's Power, Forgiveness, Praise, Thankfulness and Trust. We are able to really spend time diving in to the different perspectives of the authors as God and the Holy Spirit is creating within them these moments of true intimacy. We are watching as God's presence is continuing to be revealed through their life story and it makes me continue to see a direct correlation with our lives. Are we in a place in our current lives that we are desiring to experience the presence of the KING OF GLORY in our lives? Are we at the point of our struggles, our failures, our uncertainties, our sinfulness to say I need the presence of God in

my life that has power and authority over ALL the EARTH and EVERYTHING in it to finally have the power of presence in my EVERYDAY life. That is a difficult one to swallow. That is a place where we need to realize that it takes TIME for HIM... TRUTH from HIM and a and a willingness to TALK with HIM. We can no longer be a culture that is ok just listening to Christian music, online sermons and even blog posts to get our spiritual fill. We cannot believe that if we let others do the heavy lifting on the spiritual side, we are going to have an experience with God on a personal level. NOW.... BEFORE you say it... I am not condemning Christian music or any sermons from pastors online... or blog posts... What I am saying is we cannot think that we are going to go deeper by allow OTHERS to do the heavy spiritual lifting. We will find ourselves saying why am I not experiencing the presence of God in my life... and it may be simply you are not allowing to take the time for God to have a one on one time with you.

See in the later part of Psalm 24, God's people have recovered the Ark of the Covenant, the symbol of God's presence with the people of God, and they are returning it to their homeland, probably Jerusalem. They are rejoicing because it is something that they had lost and now have regained. The presence of God in their community and they are walking up to the city and with songs of praise asking questions and responding back with the people from the city. We recognize that the mountain that they are climbing... God Owns the Mountain. The city they are approaching... God Owns the City. We are watching as God's people are renewing their passion for God's presence in their life and professing that everyone needs to watch out because the King of Glory is coming through. So you had better open up those gates or doors and raise your heads because the God that has proclaimed ownership over all things is about to BUST OPEN the DOOR and proclaim His authority. And the people ask, ok Who is this King of Glory... tell us more about him. And the response is, "The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle." He is Yahweh... He is the one that has been with us all throughout our history. He has claimed authority over the seas and the waters and planted His Creation over all uncertainty. They ask again, Who is this King... And once again they respond, He is THE ONE... The Lord of ALL.

We see this too in our lives as we continue to discern the authority of God. Have we closed the doors because we continue to struggle with the patterns of this world. Do we begin to wonder Who is the King of Glory and shout out to have the question answered for us. OR are we the ones carrying the presence of the King of Glory back into the lives of others. Are we the ones that are shouting to others, you had better open the doors because we are coming through. Even though we don't deserve to enter into the gates, God is going before us and preparing for us the opportunity to walk through together. We are carrying the Ark of the Covenant so that the world will once again realize that the presence of God is with His people. That the KING OF GLORY is ready to break out of the boundaries that we have

established for Him and the bust out of the box we continue to try to force Him to live in and show the world who is still in control. I could only imagine what that picture looked like as the God's people were carrying the Ark of the Covenant up the mountain and they were singing in praise back to each other. If I could only close my eyes and hear it, I bet it would be like nothing we have ever experienced. The time has come you gates and doors. It is time to open the doors and let God into the space that we have been protecting and hiding from Him for so long. God's presence is back with us and we need to do all that we can to no longer try and contain it from this world, but to release into the world HE already owns. Remember the Earth and EVERYTHING in it belongs to the Lord. Selah... Let it be so.
